• What-if-an-abnormalityYour breast surgeon / clinician should play a central role in the work-up and interpretation of results.
  • You will require an appropriate radiological investigation.
  • A biopsy of the abnormality needs to be performed to confirm the diagnosis. This is done by your surgeon / attending clinician and in certain instances, when the lesion cannot be palpated easily, needs to be done under imaging (ultrasound or mammogram)
  • The pathologist assesses the specimen and the result needs to be discussed with you by your breast clinician.
  • Further management depends on the pathology confirmed. Your Breast Clinician should prepare the management plan.
  • Further management is best made in a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) environment involving your Surgeon, Oncologist and Radiologist.
